Parklane Radiology (PLR) was established in January 2012 when Drs Schoub and Said took over the hospital radiology department.
At the time, the department was underutilized, and offered very limited services, mostly on obsolete equipment.
In the ten years since, the department has been renovated, decorated and modernized.
The addition of an MRI machine provided the means to do high level pelvic, neurological, breast and musculoskeletal imaging. The MRI anaesthetic unit enables us to scan children of any age safely and efficiently.
Our newest CT machine has just been installed. The latest multi-slice scanner technology and dose-lowering options will allow us to obtain high resolution scans of the brain, sinuses, chest and abdomen at the lowest (safest) radiation dose. . Parklane Radiology uses state-of-the-art picture archiving (PACS), billing and reporting systems (RIS) which ensures efficient administration as well as easy access to studies and reports for referring doctors.
In particular, PLR provides expert radiology in paediatric patients, breast cancer and general oncology work-up, and gynaecological conditions. Close collaboration with referring doctors and a warm, friendly approach to our patients, are the pillars on which Parklane Radiology is built.
We are the only unit in South Africa accredited by the American College of Radiologists (ACR) for mammography, stereotactic biopsy and breast MRI.
Our team works as part of a multidisciplinary breast cancer collaboration with the Parklane Radiology Department, comprising of specialist breast surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, oncologists and pathologists. In combination with the latest technology at Parklane Radiology and Women’s Wellness Centre.
