oncology

Parklane Radiology works closely with the oncologists to help diagnose - and stage the spread of cancer to other parts of the body

Cancer staging is the classification of cancer based on size of the tumor and the spread of the cancer to other parts of the body .

Oncologists use this information to guide them in the treatment and prognosis of the patient. Oncology imaging may also be used to do biopsies and in guiding other surgical procedures.

neonatal imaging

At Parklane Radiology, our radiographers are highly experienced in caring for
newborns who require frequent imaging in the Neonatal ICU (NNU). Gentle handling, careful awareness of ICU equipment, and swift image processing are part of our standard practice.

All x-rays are digital, allowing treating doctors in the NNU to access and review images immediately at their workstations, ensuring timely and accurate care for even the most highrisk patients.

Cranial and Abdominal Ultrasounds

At Parklane Radiology, our radiologists are highly skilled in performing cranial and abdominal ultrasound examinations in newborns. Premature infants and those who have experienced birth trauma are at increased risk of brain injury, which is why most babies in the Neonatal ICU (NNU) will require a bedside cranial ultrasound.

Ultrasound of the kidneys and other abdominal organs is also an essential part of assessing and monitoring unwell babies, providing vital information to guide their care.

PAEDIATRIC Imaging

Our paediatric radiologists bring extensive expertise in interpreting all types of children’s x-rays and scans.

We are committed to safe imaging practices, with staff specially trained in radiation reduction techniques tailored for children.

When a child faces illness or injury, timely and accurate diagnosis is
essential for guiding the right treatment. Our practice combines advanced imaging technology with a child-friendly approach to assist in diagnosing a wide range of conditions, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urological, neurological, skeletal, orthopaedic, and oncological disorders.

MRI is an excellent imaging option for children as it involves no radiation and, in most cases, does not require intravenous contrast. This makes it a safer alternative to CT scans.

Common reasons for MRI in children include congenital or developmental brain conditions and paediatric tumours.

Our MRI service is led by a radiologist with specialised expertise in paediatric imaging. We use equipment designed specifically for children to ensure the highest quality images with maximum comfort and safety.

For young patients who may need additional support, we offer an on-site anaesthetic unit within the MRI room, enabling scans to be performed under general anaesthesia when necessary. An anaesthetist is also available to assist if required.
